HISTORICAL RECORD FEES

Possible Comune fees for records over 100 years old.

Italian law allows Comuni to introduce an administrative contribution for certain requests involving civil-status records more than a century old. The amount and procedure depend on the individual Comune.

Up to €300 per act

Law 30 December 2024 no. 207 allows a Comune to charge up to €300 for each certificate or extract of a civil-status act formed more than 100 years ago and relating to a person other than the requester.

The amount varies by Comune

The contribution is not automatic and does not have to be €300. Each Comune decides whether to apply it and how much to charge within the legal limit. The law also allows a reduction for requests that precisely identify the person and year of the act.

Separate from my service fee

Any Comune contribution is an authority charge and is separate from my document-retrieval fee. If a known Comune fee applies to your request, I will tell you before proceeding with that requirement.
